Rabbi Neil N. Winkler, founding Rabbi of the Young Israel of Fort Lee, is a musmach of Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary and a graduate of Yeshiva College and the Bernard Revel Graduate School. Rabbi Winkler held pulpits in Cincinnati, Trenton and Fort Lee before his recent Aliya to Jerusalem. He served the Fort Lee community for 36 years during which time he also taught Jewish Studies in the Moriah School where he was both teacher and Coordinator of Tanach studies.
In addition to his duties as a community Rav, Rabbi Winkler twice served as the President of the Rabbinical Council of Bergen County and was a member of the Executive Committee of the Rabbinical Council of America.
Rabbi Winkler published his first book, Bringing the Prophets to Life, which has been received with great interest and enthusiasm, and is part of the Speaker’s Bureau of the National Council of Young Israel.
Among his educational accomplishments, Rabbi Winkler has coached almost thirty American champions of the International Bible Contest who have flown to Israel to represent the United States.
An active Zionist even before his aliya, Rabbi Winkler was involved in numerous organizations that support the State of Israel and has been honored by the Bet-El Yeshiva, the National Council of Young Israel, Project S.A.R.A.H., Yeshiva University and NCSY.
Rabbi Winkler and his wife Andrea, are the proud parents of five children and nine grandchildren.
